The Director

Our director Velma Schwien is currently an undergraduate student. She will graduate from Saint Xavier University in December 2017 with a bachelor in English and Psychology minor. She has a strong psychology background, from both St.Xavier, and Moraine Valley Community College where she graduated Cum Loude. Velma has experience in art therapy and is a member of Psi Chi-The International Honors Society in Psychology, and Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society. She is experienced in art therapy and is well versed in the needs of those who are differently abled. Velma has previously graduated Cum Loude from Moraine Valley Community College. She will continue to complete her master's degree in clinical counseling in April 2019 from Northwestern University in Chicago. This will enable the expansion of the center to add clinical counseling with a focus on mindfulness and narrative therapy.
